Vice President, LMET(R)
Dr. T. Jayaprakash Rao is the Director of A.J. Institute of Management (AJIM), a renowned name in the field of Management Education. His specialized knowledge is ranging from Human Resource Management to Marketing to Cost and Management Accounting to Business Mathematics. He has served as Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce and Management for nearly 25 years at Shree Gokarnanatheshwara College, Mangalore. He is recognized guide for MBA programme of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi and Karnataka Open University, Mysore. He has been taking up minor research projects of UGC, New Delhi and guiding 5 Doctoral researchers and 8 M.Phil scholars of many Universities. He has participated and organised many seminars and conferences of national stature during his long teaching service.
He has rendered distinguished service to Mangalore University and Government of Karnataka as a member of Academic Council, Board Of Studies, Board Of Examinations, Local Inspection Committee And Consultation Committee for both annual (new) scheme and credit based semester scheme of Mangalore University. Nevertheless, he is known for his multifaceted activities including voracious reading, organizing academic programmes, buying books and watching movies. He is the former secretary of Association of Mangalore University College Teachers’ and President of Mangalore University Commerce Teachers’ Association, scripting proper direction and new dimension to their activities. He is also serving as a Director of South Kanara District Credit Co-operative Society for the last 8 years. In a nut shell, for the last three decades, he has been a true academician having the concern for student empowerment and a refined leader of teacher movement dedicated for creating competent and confident fellow teacher.
Faculty as Enlightened Resources
The Institute has sixteen full time faculties comprising one Director, two Professors, three Associate Professors, and ten Assistant Professors. The Institute is blessed with three Professors having more than three decades of teaching, research and consultation experience. There are three Associate Professors with more than ten years of experience and ten Assistant Professors with more than three years of teaching experience, on the rolls. Of the total, six members have Doctoral Degrees, three have M.Phil Degrees and three are pursuing Doctoral research.
The Institute is fortunate to have highly qualified and experienced faculty with a healthy mix of academicians and industry professionals, who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom. In addition to core faculty, the Institute is supported by several visiting faculty, each an expert in their domain area, who are senior professionals in industry, business or other professions related to management. Faculties are encouraged to develop themselves and also to track developments in their areas of discipline. This includes research activities, publications, attending faculty development workshops and seminars as well as participating in national and international conferences. These eminent field-specialists enrich the students with the most updated academic resources and give them an insight into the corporate world by sharing their first hand experience. The faculty members at AJIM also function as mentors and facilitators, making learning an interactive experience and hence more enriching.
